Caitlin McEachran: oblikovanje onkraj pravil

Nedavno ste predstavili svojo prvo kolekcijo torbic za Seam New York.

Moj slogovni narativ ostaja enak: to sem jaz.

Prav ta celovitost me je pritegnila k projektu.

Poleg mode in filma razvijate tudi novo serijo The Devil’s Dancers.

The Devil’s Dancers prinaša elemente krvave grozljivke, a tudi komično antologijo v vsaki epizodi.

Caitlin McEachran: Redefining the Rules of Design

A story of creative vision, personal expression, and perseverance that opens the door to the worlds of fashion, film, and contemporary aesthetics—from her first handbag collection to the Cannes red carpet, where she gained recognition.

You have recently introduced your debut handbag collection for Seam New York. What was the creative starting point for this line, and how does it reflect your evolving design language?

My creative starting point for this new handbag line was thinking about what I wanted to see more of in the handbag and accessories world. The pirarucu fish skin leather is different from anything else out there. The scaling, the stretch of the leather, and of course the mineral beads make a definitive statement that this line is completely different from anything else out there. I’m sure anyone with a unique taste and desire to stand out from the crowd will be drawn to this collection.

This year marks your third consecutive appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, where your new collection will also be presented. How has your relationship with Cannes shaped your career over time?

Cannes is a ride, and it’s good to punch my ticket a third time. When I think of all the personalities and experiences I’ve had there, of course my career would be very different without the people I’ve met there. What it’s shown me about the industry is that showing up and making the effort to be present matters more than anything else. Showing up is half the battle, and overcoming the barriers to entry can be tough, but there is a promised land beyond the gates that others have set up to block you. I’ve always been persistent, but Cannes has shown me that persistence can and will be rewarded.

Your previous red carpet looks at Cannes featured designs by Tatyana Morris. How would you define your current style narrative, and how does it translate into your choices this season?

Tatyana Morris is such a delight, and I feel so lucky to be wearing her every time I get the change. The narrative is what it’s always been: It’s me, here I am. The side of me that I choose to present can shift, change, and evolve, but the core essence has remained consistent. The choice is in the part that faces forward, but the whole body of self is the same.

A documentary you were involved in will be showcased at the Marché du Film. What drew you to this project, and what makes it particularly meaningful for you?

Oh, the documentary is going to be great. It proves something we all knew, but rarely get to see: The presentation that makes it to the stage is only part of the show. As you’ll see, sometimes what’s behind the curtain is even more entertaining. The meaning for me is that the creative process can be messy, chaotic, and exhausting, but it’s always so beautiful as a complete organ, and showing the complete organ is what drew me to the project.

Alongside your work in fashion and film, you are currently developing a new show, The Devil’s Dancers. Could you share the vision behind it and what audiences can expect from this upcoming project?

Devil’s Dancers is great; gore and horror is the expectation, along with a comedic anthology in each episode, but the vision is delving into the individual characters that make up the violence. A great scratching of the itch for those that enjoy intrigue along with their slasher tendencies.
