Kako vas je vaše odraščanje med Teheranom in ZDA oblikovalo kot umetnika?
Sem Sam Asghari. Rojen sem bil v Teheranu in v mladosti prišel v Združene države. Ta kombinacija perzijske zgodovine in kulture ter priložnosti, ki sem jih imel v Ameriki, je močno oblikovala to, kar sem danes.
Kako doživljate modo kot umetniško obliko in kot samopodobo?
Zunaj igranja je moda zame izjemno pomembna. Vidim jo kot še eno obliko umetnosti in osebnega izražanja, ki lahko govori o tem, kdo si.
Zakaj menite, da je moda tako močno povezana z zgodovino?
Ker prihajam iz perzijskega okolja in dobro razumem, kako globoko so moda, tekstil in oblikovanje povezani s tradicijo. Oblačila že tisočletja pripovedujejo zgodbe o civilizacijah in ljudeh.
Kaj pomeni “dovoljenje” v kontekstu mode in izražanja individualnosti?
Zame je bistvo v tem, da moda ljudem da dovoljenje, da izrazijo, kdo v resnici so. Ne gre za to, da bi vsi izgledali enako, ampak da vsak prinese svojo edinstvenost.
Kakšno smer želite nadaljevati kot igralec v prihodnjih letih?
Želim si graditi pomemben opus z zahtevnejšimi liki in več odgovornosti. Izbiram projekte, ki imajo sporočilo in pomen ter me res izzovejo kot igralca.
Kakšna je po vašem vzporednica med modo in igranjem vlog?
Moda je komunikacija. In kot igralec tudi sam hitro začutim, kako se zgodba začne še preden lik spregovori. Kostum in oblačila zato zame niso le estetika, ampak del pripovedovanja.

In a conversation with actor and artist Sam Asghari, we explore how his personal background, storytelling, and the world of fashion shape the way he presents himself and builds his career.
How did your upbringing between Tehran and the United States shape you as an artist?
I’m Sam Asghari. I was born in Tehran and came to the United States when I was young. That combination of Persian history and culture, along with the opportunities I’ve had in America, has strongly shaped who I am today.
How do you see fashion as a form of art and self-expression?
Outside of acting, fashion has always been extremely important to me. I see it as another form of art and personal expression, something that can communicate who you are.
Why do you feel fashion is so deeply connected to history?
Because I come from a Persian background, and I understand how deeply fashion, textiles, and design are tied to tradition. For thousands of years, clothing has carried stories about civilizations and the people within them.
What does “permission” mean to you in the context of fashion and individuality?
For me, it’s about giving people permission to express who they truly are. It’s not about making everyone look the same, but about letting each person bring their own uniqueness.
Where do you want to take your acting career in the coming years?
I want to keep building a meaningful body of work with more challenging characters and greater responsibility. I choose projects that have something to say and that truly challenge me as an actor.
What’s the connection you see between fashion and acting?
For me, fashion is communication. And as an actor, I understand how storytelling starts even before a character speaks. That’s why costume and clothing are not just about aesthetics, they are part of the narrative.
